Pittsburgh Young Professionals Announces 2016 Board Members, Executive Committee and Committee Chairs

PITTSBURGH, PA – Pittsburgh Young Professionals (PYP), an organization dedicated to providing diverse networking opportunities to young professionals throughout Pittsburgh and its surrounding communities, announces the election and appointments of its 2016 Board Members, Executive Committee and Committee Chairs.

“As Pittsburgh prepares to celebrate its bicentennial year, I couldn’t be more excited to accept the role as the Pittsburgh Young Professional’s President,” says Melissa Evans, President, PYP.  “Our city has grown and developed greatly over the past 200 years, and PYP has been a contributing factor as the city’s premier young professional networking group in the most recent 28 years.  All leadership roles are volunteer positions that have worked diligently to grow our membership to almost 500, a 36% increase in the past two years, and continue to provide quality networking events throughout the city.”

Melissa Evans – President

Melissa Evans, 2016 Board President, has been a member of the Pittsburgh Young Professionals for five years. Beginning her tenure as a committee chair, she became dedicated to the development and success of the premier young professional organization. In 2016, she anticipates leading the organization to continue on its growth pattern to over 525 career-minded members by providing a minimum of 50 quality events in the areas of professional development, community outreach and social/civic engagement. Melissa is a Senior Account Coordinator at Star Performance Marketing, where she manages client expectations while building their brand and driving traffic to their stores.

Charles Jenkins – Vice President

Charles is returning to PYP, after having been a member some years ago, to help further the growing membership of PYP. He is a Financial Advisor in downtown Pittsburgh. Charles graduated from Drexel University’s LeBow College of Business in Philadelphia with a B.S. in accounting/finance. He is on the Board of Governors for the alumni association and is actively involved in Pittsburgh’s emerging social/networking scene. He resides in Upper St Clair.

Tom Lefevre – Treasurer

Tom has been an active member of PYP since 2014, and joined the board in 2016 as the Treasurer. Professionally, Tom is a Senior Financial Analyst at Dick’s Sporting Goods, where he conducts ad hoc projects and financial analyses to assist executive decision-making. Prior to his current role, Tom took part in the Leadership Development Program at Dick’s Sporting Goods. He holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Economics from the University of Pennsylvania.

Morgan Whiteley – Administrative/Membership Officer

Morgan has been an active member of PYP since 2012. Prior to being appointed to the Board of Directors, she served as the 2014 and 2015 Social Committee Chair. Morgan is a Marketing and Event Planning Manager for the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette. She currently serves on an event planning committee for Easter Seals, and is a co-founder of Experienced Employees in Transition. Morgan holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Human Development from Virginia Tech.

Thomas Dufour is the Principal of We Are Carpentry, a digital agency, specializing in custom, responsive, content managed website development. Thomas enters 2016 as a third-year board member as the Recording Secretary of PYP.

Michael Chiappetta – Board Member, Social Media Advisor

Michael joined PYP in 2014 and he currently works as the assistant Vice President, CLCS, for the HDH Group. Michael holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Finance from Indiana University of Pennsylvania. As a board member, Michael oversees the Social Media platforms in order to engage the young professionals of Pittsburgh to attend events held by the association, increase membership, and help develop the young professional base in the Pittsburgh area.

Laura has been an active member of PYP since the Fall of 2014. She served as the 2015 Professional Development Chair and will now serve as the Professional Development Board Advisor. Helping people develop professionally is something that Laura is passionate about as demonstrated through her role with PYP and current occupation as an Executive Recruiter for Jobplex, Inc. a DHR International Company. Additionally, she earned a Bachelor’s Degree in Marketing, a Certificate in Leadership and Ethics, and a Minor in Economics from University of Pittsburgh.

Michael Hall – Board Member, Scholarship Advisor

Michael joined PYP in 2013 and quickly became a contributing member of the organization. He is the Accounting Manager at Keystone Dedicated Logistics and has been with his company since 2009. In the past, he has served in a variety of roles on a number of professional boards and is excited to be utilizing that experience with PYP. Michael holds a B.S. in Accounting from Pennsylvania State University with a focus in information reporting.

John Herington – Board Member, Special Events Advisor

John joined PYP in 2012.  He has over 20 years of Hospitality/Management experience, and has served in a variety of roles on a number of professional boards, which will help him in his role as the Special Events Board Advisor. John currently works for Cintas Corporation, as a Sales/Service Representative and has a Bachelor of Science in Hospitality Management from The Pennsylvania State University along with a Masters of Science in Human Resource Management from Robert Morris University.

Mandy McNabb – Board Member, Community Outreach Advisor

Mandy has been a member of PYP since 2014.  As a new board member, Mandy will shape and define community outreach, sponsorship, and partnership initiatives with an aim to expand PYP’s local footprint. She is an Associate at Denali Group with a focus on global procurement contracts and negotiations. Mandy holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Political Science and Philosophy from the University of Pittsburgh and a Juris Doctor from Case Western Reserve University School of Law.

John has been a member of PYP since 1999. He joined the board in 2012 to help PYP evolve as “Pittsburgh’s original social networking organization” and was President in 2014 and 2015. He is the Chief Human Resources Director for GAI Consultants where he leads the HR function for over 900 national employees.  John holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Psychology from the University of Pittsburgh and holds both Senior Professional in Human Resources (SPHR) and SHRM-SCP certifications.

Ryan Richardson – Public Relations/Technology Advisor

Ryan is a third-year Board Member with PYP and has served as the organization’s Membership Officer for the past two years.  In his new role, Ryan aims to build on the momentum of the organization and increase visibility across the city. Ryan currently works as a Senior Analyst in American Eagle’s Performance Marketing and Advanced Analytics department. Ryan holds a Bachelors Degree from the University of Pittsburgh (Finance) and is a current second-year, Part-Time MBA student at Carnegie Mellon University.

Shawn joined PYP in 2014 in search of an organization to help grow his network. He was appointed to the Board of Directors in 2015 and currently holds the position as the Social Committee advisor. Shawn holds a Bachelor’s Degree from the University of Pittsburgh with concentrations in finance, economics, and management information systems. He is currently working for Highmark Inc. as a Financial Analyst in the Revenue Program Management team.
