PITTSBURGH, PA – Pittsburgh Young Professionals (PYP), an organization dedicated to providing diverse networking opportunities to young professionals throughout Pittsburgh and its surrounding communities, announces the election of its 2013 Board members.
“I am excited to take on the role as PYP’s president, and to be working with the group of newly elected 2013 PYP board members who represent the hardworking young professionals from many different background and industries in Pittsburgh,” says Aaron Plitt, President, PYP. “I look forward to working with each new member as a team to continue to establish PYP as a successful and leading organization in Pittsburgh.”

Trader, Tube City IMS
Aaron has served on the PYP Board for the past two years. He is a Trader with Tube City IMS, a steel services company headquartered in Pittsburgh, and has been with the company for six years and in the metals recycling industry for eight years. Aaron holds a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration from the Boston University School of Management and attended Suffolk University Law School. Originally from St. Louis, Missouri, Aaron relocated to Pittsburgh three years ago in conjunction with a promotion fro Tube City IMS. He is also a Board Member of the Pittsburgh Chapter of the Institute of Scrap Recycling Industries, and serves as Western Pennsylvania Regional President for the Kappa Sigma Fraternity. Aaron resides in Pittsburgh’s South Side.
John Oliverio, SPHR
Director, Human Resources, WESCO
John has been a member of PYP since 1999. He joined the board in 2012 to help PYP evolve as “Pittsburgh’s original social networking organization.” He is the Human Resources Director for WESCO where he leads HR for 2,200 employees and $2.2B of the total business since 2010. John holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Psychology from the University of Pittsburgh and Senior Professional in Human Resources (SPHR) certification. He is currently a board member and HR Committee Chair for the Animal Rescue League. He previously held the position of President for both Pittsburgh Cares (2006-2008) and Pittsburgh Human Resources Association (2005) and was a board member for PUMP. John is one of Pittsburgh’s 40 Under 40 winners and named one of the Pittsburgh Business Times’ Fast Trackers. He also spends his time volunteering for Pittsburgh Cares, City of Pittsburgh Mayor’s Service Advisory Council, Pitt Alumni Association, Pittsburgh’s Promise, and Girls Hope. From Pittsburgh, he grew up in South Park and resides in Crafton.
Director of Information Technology, Duquesne University School of Law
Christopher has served as a PYP member since 2012. With his current role as board member, he hopes to help bring the organization to its next strategic level. He is currently the Director of Information Technology for Duquesne University’s School of Law. Chris holds a Bachelors Degree from Millersville University of PA, a Masters of Public Administration from Villanova University, and a certificate in Architecture from the Graduate School of Design at Harvard University. Recently re-locating from the Philadelphia area, Chris lives in the Mt. Washington section of Pittsburgh and also serves on the board of Get Involved, Inc.
Lauren C. Ashley
Regional Communications Officer – American Red Cross, Western Pennsylvania Region
Lauren has been an active member of PYP for more than two years, serving as the Public Relations Committee Chair in 2011 and as board member in 2012. She is the Regional Communications Officer for the American Red Cross Western Pennsylvania Region. In her position, she is responsible for managing the communications, media relations, disaster public affairs and social media efforts for the 25-county region. Lauren holds a B.A. in Public Relations/Advertising and a Bachelor of Arts in French and Francophone Studies from the Pennsylvania State University. Originally from Surrey, England, Lauren has lived in the Pittsburgh area for most of her life. She currently resides in Buffalo Twp. with her husband, Brett.
Kelly has served on the PYP board for the past four years. She has been involved with PYP for the past six years as the Social Committee and Signature Event Chair. Kelly holds a B.A. in Mass Communications from Point Park University and currently works at PNC. She was previously employed at a multi media company. A breast cancer survivor, she is featured in a local commercial profiling women under 45 who have or had breast cancer. Originally from Ellwood City, she now resides in downtown Pittsburgh.
Public Relations Account Executive, Chemistry Communications
Darice previously served as the Public Relations Chair for PYP and has been involved in the organization since moving to Pittsburgh. She currently works for Chemistry Communications, a Pittsburgh-based advertising agency. In her role as a Public Relations Account Executive, she oversees regional and national accounts, developing PR strategies along with overall account management. She also currently works as a freelance public relations consultant for various Pittsburgh companies including KDenny and Partners Public Relations and Pittsburgh Fashion Week. Darice holds a B.A. in Journalism and Women’s Studies from Pennsylvania State University. She also holds a Certificate in Editing and Publishing from New York University. She was previously employed at Good Housekeeping Magazine in New York City as an editorial assistant and Jackthreads, as Communications Coordinator. Currently residing in Pittsburgh’s South Side, she also serves on the board of PRSA Pittsburgh.
Relationship Management Specialist, Philips Respironics
Melissa has been an active member of PYP for over two years, previously serving as the Signature Event Co-Chair. She is currently employed as a Relationship Management Specialist at Philips Respironics. She became involved with PYP in search of a career change and was also looking for a fun networking opportunity to get to know the city better. She enjoys PYP because of the endless opportunities it provides. She looks forward to beginning her board membership to help others enjoy the experience as much as she has.
Senior Strategic Business Planner, Siemens Industry Inc.
Trin has been an active member of PYP since 2012. She currently works for Siemens Industry Inc. as a Senior Strategic Business Planner. Originally from Shanghai, China, she came to the United States in 2004 for graduate study in Industrial Engineering and Operations Research at Wright State University in Dayton, Ohio. She also holds a Masters degree in Engineering. Trin specializes in sales and operations planning, and lean manufacturing and business process improvement. Prior to her current role, she previously worked in Global Supply Chain Management and Global Controlling for Siemens Industry Large Drive business unit. Before coming to Pittsburgh, she worked in Supply Management at WorkflowOne, one of the largest providers of print and promotional services in North America.
Ryan H James, Esq.
Owner and Founder, James Law
Ryan has been active member of PYP for the past year. He is an attorney and the owner and founder of James Law. Admitted to practice in all Pennsylvania courts and the U.S. District Court for the Western District of Pennsylvania, Ryan is largely committed to being a general practitioner. Ryan holds a B.A. in Political Science and Philosophy from Allegheny College, and he earned his Juris Doctor degree from the Thomas M. Cooley Law School. A managing associate editor of the Law Review and a member of his law school’s National Moot Court team, Ryan was his class’s recipient of the President’s Achievement Award and the Alumni Association’s Distinguished Student Award. A resident of his hometown of McKeesport, Pennsylvania, Ryan is a volunteer attorney with the Neighborhood Legal Services Association, an arbitrator in the Allegheny County Court of Common Pleas, and a member of the Allegheny County and Pennsylvania Bar Associations. He is also currently a member of the Heinz History Center’s “History Uncorked” committee, and a past committee chairman of the White Oak Business & Professional Association.
Sales Manager, Wyndham Grand Pittsburgh Downtown
Jessica has been an active member of PYP for the past two years, participating as the Social Committee chair in 2011 and as a Board Member since 2012. She is a Sales Manager at the Wyndham Grand Pittsburgh Downtown, and she has been with Wyndham Hotels and Resorts for close to 2 years upon her move to Pittsburgh. Jessica holds a B.S. in Business Administration with focuses in Marketing Management and Advertising/Public Relations from Youngstown State University. Originally from Youngstown, Ohio, Jessica relocated to Pittsburgh at the time of her employment with Wyndham Hotels and Resorts. Pittsburgh Young Professionals has helped her build her career through networking, meeting new friends and acquaintances from the Pittsburgh area, and strengthening her personal goals.
